Last week we headed up to St. Jo, the location of an upcoming endurance race.  The event would also be my first race, but  I didn’t do so well during my pre-ride.

Just about everyday I ride a trail.  My bike handling skills have improved.  I’m faster.  I can bunny hop over obstacles.   Despite the fact that I ride consistently, I now realize that the trails I frequent have very little climbing.  Sure, there are inclines.  Or descents that lead to ascents that require effort.  But rarely am I riding on a flat area that turns into a climb, which leads to another climb, only to continue on and on.
