Bike at the Mall while Sweater Shopping

November 7, 2010 in Random Pedaling

My new office is chilly, so an overcoat to get me from the parking lot to the front door won’t cut it this year.   Since I’m tired of freezing, and we’re only going to keep getting colder, it was time to head to the mall. My boyfriend is from Michigan.  I’m a Texan, born and raised.  You are correct to assume he scoffs at my definition of cold.

Parking at the Galleria was ridonkulous.  Stores were putting out big sales, and since saving money eases the pain of dealing with crowds, I didn’t mind waiting five minutes in the line of traffic just to enter the parking lot.  Plus, these days I don’t mind shopping.

I  am at my lowest weight in 10 years!  Most of the clothes in my closet, sweaters included, are baggy.  Dave finds it difficult to believe that I’m continually surprised to find that I fit into smaller sizes. But I am honestly stunned every time I fit into jeans that used to be too small.  Especially the pair that I’ve owned for 10 years and has been collecting dust in my closet. Bike Photo Friday!: Bikes in the Bushes

October 1, 2010 in Bike Photo Friday!

Fall season means pumpkin purchases. Our affordable neighborhood garden center is Calloways, so we headed in one evening after dinner. It was a wonderland of pumpkins and scarecrows.

During my first visit to this Calloway’s location there was an old rusted orange bike leaned up at the front counter. The next time I needed flowers I brought my camera along, but the bike was out of site. It hasn’t been back the past three visits.

Until this last visit. Maybe they placed it among the bushes to continue the Halloween theme in the shrubbery section.

My plan this year is to carve a bike themed pumpkin. I haven’t worked out the details, but it’s going to be a challenge. That will be a fun and messy job.

I don’t put out too many decorations in general, but last year we visited a pumpkin patch where I got a few small pumpkins and funky gourds for the desk. This year Dave brought this guy home from the grocery store to keep me company at work. The hair cracks me up.

Mark Twain likes my bike.

Sunday started off drizzly and overcast.  It was a perfect morning to grab the new cross bike and go.  This was the first time I’ve ridden the Trinity River bike trails.  I had a fun ride and ran into an old friend.

Mark Twain admiring my Kuota.

Saturday it rained all day and soaked the mountain bike trails.  Puddles speckled the pavement of the Trinity trail, but I had no issues with water, mud, or wet gravel.  I even managed to successfully bunny hop over buckled pavement and other bumpy items in my way.

The graffiti's camera shy.

This is my third ride on my new bike.  The more I ride it, the more I like it.  My cyclocross bike is fun.

This bike painting is part of three art pieces under an overpass along the trail. The writing on the wall indicates that artists can ask permission to paint. Anyone want to redo this bike? It could use a makeover.

The Monday’s

This rider has a bad case of the Monday’s. I hope she remembered to pack her helmet.

Thanks Kristi for letting me post your photo taken on the road!

It’s only 105 degrees. Why worry?

July 31, 2010 in Random Pedaling

It’s bright and early Saturday morning.  I’m up, but my headache continues to linger, but just barely.  Maybe it’s dehydration.  It could also be a cold. Hopefully it’s allergies.

The pedaling will go on.  I drank enough fluids last night.  The day’s trail has changed to a less challenging one.  High today is 105.  Tomorrow, it’s 106??

Weekend weather report from The Weather Channel.

105 is my cut off. Looks like today is on.

I need a little sunshine to get me in the mood to ride.  The rays might clear the rest of my headache away.  It’s too early for the sun, so I’ve prepared with my own.

What’s the temperature in your neck of the woods?  Today I’ll appreciate our shaded trails.  I can’t imagine getting on a road bike today.

Do you remember your first ride?

May 27, 2010 in Random Pedaling

Yesterday we stopped by the LBS (local bike shop) to pick up some Heed.  Texas temperatures are rising.  I don’t want to bonk, so I drink a bottle of the stuff as an insurance plan when on the trails.  While Dave looked at CO2 cartridges and sports drinks, I looked around for a bike.  Not a bike to photograph. I’m searching for an affordable bike to take on errands.  Errands that I currently won’t do on my mountain bike out of fear that a part of the bike, if not the entire thing, will be stolen.

I noticed this bicycle hanging from the ceiling after ogling a bike that was way out of my price range. One note reads “Not for Sale.”  The other, “Do you remember your first ride?”

I barely remember my first two-wheeled ride.  I definitely remember my second.

Bike Photo Friday! Bike Signs

May 14, 2010 in Bike Photo Friday!

This week I am running short on bicycle photos.  Finding mountain bikes on the trail is easy.  Spotting unique bikes everyday?  Not so much.  Yesterday I ventured out with my camera during an errand run to Southlake, TX.  I figured that since it was a beautiful day someone would have ridden a bike to the shopping center.
